vote的用法 1. 用作名词, 注意以下用法: ①表示“投票”、“表决”, 注意以下用法: a)通常为可数名词: Let’s have a vote. 咱们来投票决定吧。 但在 by (a) vote(通过投票表决)中可以不用冠词: The matter was decided by (a) vote. 问题通过表决确定了。 b)表示对某问题投票表决, 可用以下两类表达(注意区别): 第一类: bring (put, submit) sth to a (the) vote 将某问 题提交表决(具有主动意义) 第二类: come (go) to a (the) vote (某问题)被提交表决 (具有被动意义, 其主语应为被表决的问题) 比较以下同义句型: 于是计划提交表决了。 正:The plan was then put to the [a] vote. 正:The plan was then brought to the [a] vote. 正:The plan was then submitted to the [a] vote. 正:Then the plan came to the [a] vote. 正:Then the plan went to the [a] vote. c)表示就某事表决或投票, 通常用介词 on(有时也用 about, 但不如用on常见): At last they took a vote on [about] the matter. 最后他们对这事进行了表决。 Since there’s some disagreement on this matter, let’s take [have] a vote on it. 既然在这个问题上有不同意见, 我们进行表决吧。 d)表示投票支持或反对, 要分别使用介词 for [=in favor of], against: He cast his vote against (for) the plan. 他投票反对(支持)这一计划。 ②表示“选票”, 注意以下用法: a. 通常是可数名词: The person receiving the most votes is selected. 得票最多的人当选。 He was beaten by one vote. 他以一票之差落选。 b)表示“总票数”或“投票数”, 要用单数形式: In elections in New York, the Irish vote is very important. 在纽约的选举中, 爱尔兰人的选票很重要。 The Socialists got 35% of the vote. 社会党人获得35%的选票。 ③表示“选举权”, 只用单数形式, 且要与 the 连用: In France women didn’t get the vote until 1945. 在法国妇女直到1945年才获得选举权。 In the U. S. , people get the vote at age of 18. 在美国人们18岁可以有选举权。 2. 用作动词, 注意以下用法: ①表示“投票”、“表决”、“选举”, 注意以下用法: a)可用作及物或不及物动词: He is too young to vote. 他年纪太小, 还不能参加投票。 Vote (for) Johnson (Republican). 投票给约翰逊(共和党)吧。 b)表示就某问题投票表决, 通常用介词 on: If we can’t agree, let’s vote on it. 咱们要是意见不一致, 那就表决吧。 c)表示投票支持或反对, 用介词 for[=in favour of], against: Twenty delegates voted for (against) the motion. 有20 名代表投票支持(反对)这一动议。 d)可带复合宾语: We voted him our captain. 我们选他当队长。 I was voted chairman. 我当选为主席。 e)可后接不定式(不接动名词): We voted to continue the strike. 我们投票决定继续罢工。 f)可接 that 从句: The committee voted that the game should be put off. 委员会投票表决要推迟比赛。 ②表示“一致认为”, 属非正式用法, 通常带复合宾语, 且常用被动语态: The concert was voted a great success. 大家一致认为音乐会开得很成功。 He was voted a good teacher. 他被认为是位好教师。 ③表示“建议”, 属口语或非正式用法, 其主语通常是第一人称, 其后通常接 that 从句(谓语多用 should+动词原形): I vote that we (should) buy a computer. 我建议我们要买一台电脑。 |
